Sanwo-Olu mourns Oniru’s demise

Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday mourned the death of Oniru of Iruland, Oba Idowu Oniru, who passed on at 82, expressing grief over the death of the monarch.

The late monarch, whose first son was former Commissioner for Waterfronts and Infrastructures, Adesegun Oniru, was said to have passed on during a brief illness.

The governor, in his reaction, commiserated with the Royal Family on the transition of the oba who joined his forebears.

Sanwo-Olu, in a short statement on his twitter handle, described the late monarch as a rare gem and a blessing to the state, saying his service to the state and country at large would remain his enduring legacy.

“On behalf of the government and people of Lagos, I commiserate with the Oniru Royal Family on the transition of HRH Oba Idowu Oniru who joined his forebears. His service to the state and country at large will remain his enduring legacy,” he said.
