Armed robbers attack Ilorin NNPC mega station, behead police officer, cart away N2million

Armed robbers have reportedly attacked Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) mega station and allegedly beheaded a police officer in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the robbers were reported to have struck on Saturday after workers at the station had left for their respective homes.

“The armed robbers allegedly beheaded a sergeant and some security personnel attached to the fuel station who were already asleep during the robbery incident.

“The robbery incident happened late Saturday night and the robbers successfully carted away the sum of two million Naira from the coffers of the company.

This sad incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the State when contacted.

Ajayi Okasanmi, the PPRO, Kwara State Police Command disclosed that the attack is true but investigation to unravel the sad incident is ongoing.

As at the time of reportage, the NNPC mega station is still under lock and key after its gates were closed on Sunday which has thrown tension and panic to residents that another imminent fuel scarcity may be unavoided
