Court remands 19-year-old boy over cannabis possession

A 19-year-old boy identified as Lateef Adekunle has been remanded in Ilesha Correctional Centre by a magistrates’ court sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday for allegedly being in possession of substance suspected to be cannabis (India hemp).

The accused person allegedly committed the crime on November 4, 2019 at Owode Market, Okuku town in Osun State as disclosed by the prosecution counsel.

Idowu Racheal, the prosecution counsel further disclosed that the offence committed is contrary to and punishable under section 249(d) of the criminal code cap 38c law of Osun State.

Meanwhile, the accused person; Lateef Adekunle pleaded innocent to the two count charges levelled against him.

The accused was ordered by Magistrate Risikat Olayemi to be remanded at Ilesha Correctional Centre till November 11 while she transferred the case to Okuku magistrate court.
