6 days after, two abducted lecturers regain freedom in Kaduna State

6 days after abduction, unknown gunmen have released two lecturers who were abducted in Mahuta community of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted two lecturers of tertiary institutions in Kaduna state. The lecturers identified as Dr Adamu Chinoko of the Department of Agriculture at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and Dr Umar Chinoko of the Department of Microbiology at Kaduna Polytechnic were kidnapped in Kebbi state.

While reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Yakubu Sabo confirmed release and further added that the victims were freed on Sunday.

He disclosed that Adamu Chinoko was the first to be kidnapped by the gunmen while Umar, his brother, who went deliver a  ransom of  N2.1 million and a motorcycle was equally seized by the bandits who later demanded additional N5 million before they release the two men.

However, Yakubu Sabo said that operatives are still trailing the kidnappers with a view to arrest and prosecute them despite the release of the two lecturers.
