Court rejects Kalu’ bail application, to spend Christmas in prison

The bail application filed by convicted former Abia state governor, Orji Uzor Kalu has been dismissed for lack in merit by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday, December 23rd which indicates that the former Governor will celebrate the yuletide in prison.

WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the former Governor and senator who was convicted for N7.2 billion fraud on December 5th filed an application for bail from Ikoyi prison where he is serving a 12 year jail term.

Senator Kalu whose seat has not been declared vacant  despite conviction requested that the court should grant him bail on health grounds.

Kalu also argued that the prison lacked the medical facility to cater to his health challenges.
