Man detained for months after buying new sim allotted to a phone number previously used and abandoned by Buhari’s daughter

Nigerian human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore shares a recent story of how a Nigerian man referred to as Anthony Chude Okolie was reportedly detained for 10 weeks for using a phone line previously used and abandoned by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan.

Anthony Chude Okolie reportedly bought a new sim card from a shop without knowing who previously used it.

He was shocked when DSS reportedly arrived at his  home in Asaba and got him detained him for months.

Omoyele Sowore, who shared the story on his Twitter handle wrote:

“A Nigerian, Anthony Okolia, was detained for 10 weeks by the DSS for using an MTN phone line previously used and abandoned by President Buhari’s daughter, Hanan!”

And a friend added: “Anthony Chude Okolie… Not Okolia. He is my friend and my primary school class mate. He bought the NEW sim card from a shop o. It was a big shock when the DSS came to Asaba to arrest him at his friend’s home. He was detained for several months by the DSS.”
