Iraq President, Barham Saleh denounces Iran missile strikes

Hours after Iranian government claimed that missiles targeted at air spaces occuiped by US and other foreign troops led to the death of 80 American citizens, the President of Iraq, Barham Saleh has denounced Iranian missile strikes on Wednesday, January 8.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that amidst speculation of loss of lives as a result of missile strikes launched by Iranian government to target US troops in Iraq, the United States Government has declared that there was no American casualty in the Iranian missile strikes that struck its air bases in Al Asad and Erbil in Iraq.

While reacting on the development, Barham Saleh expressed fear of dangerous and worse developments in the region and rejected the repeated violation of its sovereignty and the transformation of Iraq into a battlefield for warring sides.

In a statement released by his office, it clearly stated that “We denounce the Iranian missile bombing that hit military installations on Iraqi territory and renew our rejection of the repeated violation of state sovereignty and the transformation of Iraq into a battlefield for warring sides.”
