Police arrest wanted kidnap kingpin terrorising Abia community

Men of Abia State Police Command have apprehended a member of notorious kidnapping syndicate identified as Darlington Olewumbu after days of being on the wanted list of the intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Nigerian Police.

Reacting to the development, the Police Public Relations in the state, Ene Okon confirmed the arrest of the kidnap kingpin and further revealed that the suspect identified as Olewumbu was nabbed by a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Ndiegoro Division SP Alphonsus Ayang, at Agu Street, Ndiegoro community.

In the course of the apprehension, the police recovered one locally-made revolver pistol with live ammunition, one locally-made double barrel shot gun and six live cartridges.

Okon stated that efforts are being made towards the arrest of the other members of the gang.

He further added that Olewumbu will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
