Three injured after police, Shiites clash in Abuja

Following a clash with men of the Nigerian Police Force on Tuesday, January 14th, no fewer than three members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria also known as Shiites have sustained severe injuries.

The clash occurred when shiite members stormed the street of Berger area in Wuse to demand for the release of their leader, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenat.

Recall that Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his Zeenat have been detained by the DSS since December 2015.

According to reports, the police fired teargas canisters and allegedly fired gunshots into the thin air in a bid to disperse them.
