Gunmen attack Emir’s convoy, kill six people

Unknown gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of Yobe traditional ruler, the Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram in Kaduna state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the sad incident happened along the Kaduna-Zaria expressway in Kaduna state around 11:00pm on Tuesday, January 14.

No fewer than four aides of the traditional ruler and two other passengers of a commercial luxurious bus were killed in the attack while five others were severely injured.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations in the state, DSP Yakubu Sabo confirmed the incident on Wednesday, January 15 and disclosed that the gunmen abducted an unidentified number of passengers to an unknown destination after opening fire on the convoy before the arrival of security operatives.

Injured victims including the Emir have been rushed to the hospital for treatment and an organised search has been launched to apprehend the gunmen and rescue the kidnapped victims.
