CAN Chairman, Adamawa state Chapter, Lawan Andimi, in Boko Haram Custody

Fifteen days after a video of Adamawa CAN Chairman appealing to government and colleagues to work on his safe return, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika local government area of Adamawa state, Lawan Andimi has been killed by Boko Haram insurgents.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that two days after foiled Boko Haram attack on Thursday, January 2, the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Lawan Andimi has been declared missing.

A source who prefers anonymity confirmed the incident and disclosed that Andimi was killed by his captors on Monday.

Recall that few days after his abduction, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that a video of the chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria CAN in Adamawa state, Lawan Andimi appealing to his colleagues and Adamawa State Governor to work towards his safe return has surfaced online.

In the video, the abducted now reportedly slain said, “I have never been discouraged, because all conditions that one finds himself …is in the hand of God. God who made them to take care of me. So, the summary of my speech; I am appealing to my colleagues, reverends, particularly my president, Reverend Joel Billy who is a strong man, a man of compassion and man of love. He can do all his best to speak to our governor, Umaru Jibrilla (Fintiri) and other necessary agents for my release here,”.

As at the time of reportage, the reason why Andimi was killed by his captors is yet unknown and the captors are yet to take responsibility as well.
