Lagos-Ibadan expressway on lock-down, footage shows people stranded

Following the ongoing construction at Berger and the narrow road at Kara inward Berger, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has been on a total lock-down which started on Wednesday morning.

Reacting to the development, the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun has advised commuters to seek alternative routes and avoid the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The State’s Sector Commander, Clement Oladele disclosed that there were breakdowns of multiple trucks along the expressway which caused gridlocks.

Oladele further disclosed that “the most pronounced of the breakdowns occurred with an overloaded truck travelling on speed out of Lagos conveying a container but lost control around the Kara Bridge and crossed the road divider blocking traffic on both sections of the Expressway, impairing traffic into and out of Lagos around the Kara bridge.

“The situation has affected traffic and the gridlock has snarled from the Kara Bridge towards Ibafo near Mowe and same situation also affecting traffic outward Lagos”, he said.

He assured that the Corps would be on the scene until normalcy is restored.
