Governor Umahi’s ex-aide arrested for allegedly killing his cousin during party primary

Police in Ebonyi state have arrested a former aide of Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state identified as Uche Ibiam for allegedly killing his cousin, Enyinnaya Ibiam (Jr) during a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) local government primary.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the suspect who was the Coordinator of Ubeyi Development Centre In Afikpo North Local Government Area before the incident.

The suspect was also accused of clashing with his younger brother, Ogbonnaya Ibiam who was a technical assistant to Governor David Umahi before the primary election.

According to local report, Uche was accused of masterminding the violence during the primary election and firing a gunshot at his own brother which struck and killed Enyinnaya instead.

Reacting to the development, the Ebonyi state police command’s spokesperson, Loveth Idah confirmed the arrest of the suspect who has sacked by Governor Umahi alongside his brother on Friday February 28.

She revealed that Uche is already cooperating with the police in its investigation.
