Court remands tailor for ‘defiling’ 13-year-old

A 32-year-old tailor identified as Udeze Ejiofor has been remanded in Ikoyi Custodial Centre by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikeja on Monday, March 2 for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that Ejiofor, a resident of Oko-Oba area of Lagos is charged with defiling a minor contrary to section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

According to report, the Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat did not take the plea of Ejiofor.

Olufunke ordered the that the case should be transferred to the Ikeja Special and Sexual Offences Court.

Sule-Amzat adjourned the case until May 14.

The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Benson Emuerhi had earlier informed the court that Ejiofor committed the offence in February at New Oko-Oba area of Lagos.

He said the defendant indecently sexually assaulted the girl in his shop contrary to the provisions of the criminal law.
