Residents flee as Boko Haram attacks Damboa in Borno

Residents of Borno community have reportedly fled as Boko Haram insurgents invaded Damboa, the headquarters of a local government area in Borno state.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the insurgents stormed the village in large numbers around 6:30am on Wednesday and started shooting sporadically.

According to one of the residents, the military troops from the army’s 25 task force brigade in Damboa have been exchanging gunfire with the insurgents for over an hour.

One of the fleeing residents told newsmen that the Boko Haram insurgents came in hilux trucks and people started running towards the bush after they saw about 20 insurgents.

According to a resident;

“They came in two batches. One came in through the north Sambisa and the other from Alagaruno.

“Soldiers from the 25 task force came in about 30 minutes and right now, over an hour, they are still exchanging g*nshots with the insurgents.”
