Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey cancels plans to move to Africa, says tweet was a mistake

Twitter’s 43-year-old CEO, Jack Dorsey has cancelled his planned long trip to Africa this year, stating that the tweet was a mistake.

Recall that Jack Dorsey had disclosed his intention to move to Africa for up to six months following his month-long trip visiting entrepreneurs on the continent in 2019.

“Sad to be leaving the continent … for now. Africa will define the future (especially the bitcoin one!). Not sure where yet, but I’ll be living here for 3-6 months mid-2020. Grateful I was able to experience a small part,” Dorsey had stated in a tweet in November.

Jack Dorsey said on Thursday, March 5, he was reconsidering plans to spend as much as six months on the continent this year, calling a November tweet about the idea “a mistake.”

“I had been working on my plans where I’d work decentralized, as my team and I do when we travel, but in light of COVID-19 and everything else going on I need to reevaluate,” Dorsey said on Twitter’s Investor Relations account.
