Three killed as hoodlums attack Abuja community

No fewer than three people were killed and many properties destroyed as dozens of miscreants on Thursday attackex Peace Village community in Lugbe, Federal Capital Territory.

According to residents of the community, the incident started as a minor robbery attack which eventually escalated into a full blown attack on the community.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the incident happened when some teens, in a foiled robbery attack were apprehended by the residents, beaten and later released.

The boys thereafter mobilised other gang members and unleashed mayhem on the community after they were released by the residents of the community.

According to report, three of the attackers were killed, and several other residents injured. Houses and cars were also burnt, while the screens of dozens of other vehicles smashed.

Officers from the Lugbe Divisional Police Station and those of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were quickly drafted to the scene and normalcy had since returned to the area.

This is happening few days after armed robbers invaded Lagos and Ogun towns to rain havoc following the lockdown declared in those states.

When contacted, the spokesman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed the incident.

He said investigation was ongoing, while security around the area has been beefed up.
