New York Restaurateur and Community Leader, Jonathan Adewunmi, dies of COVID-19

Due to complications from COVID-19, New York-based restaurateur, businessman and community advocate, Jonathan Adewumi has passed.His family confirmed the news.

Mr Jonathan Adewunmi, owner of Amarachi restaurant in Brooklyn,and a pillar of New York’s African community, and helped create a unique space for people to congregate while enjoying good food and hospitality.

He was an alumni of Utica College, class of ’86, and a cherished member of New York’s African community, dedicated to advancing its culture and providing mentorship to young people following in his footsteps—many of whom affectionately referred to him as “Uncle Jonathan.”

The coronavirus is an ongoing pandemic responsible for the death of over 150k people globally.

However in Nigeria, the Lagos State government on Wednesday confirmed the discharge of nine coronavirus patients from the state’s isolation center,5 females and 4 males including a foreign national; of Poland have been discharged after testing negative to further #COVID19 screening.The state’s commissioner for health Akin Abayomi, said on Twitter on Wednesday.
