Oyo State records second COVID-19 death

FG bans interstate movement of COVID-19 patients

Oyo state has confirmed iit’s second Coronavirus death, the patient’s demise was announced by the State’s Governor, Seyi Makinde in tweets shared in the late hours of Sunday April 26.

The recent death brings the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state to two. There are currently eight active cases in Oyo State.

Announcing the development on his twitter handle, Governor Makinde wrote;

OYO STATE COVID-19 TASK FORCE UPDATE (APRIL 26, 2020) Sadly, one of the new COVID-19 cases announced yesterday, passed away this morning. This brings the number of COVID-19 related deaths in the state to two. So, there are currently eight active cases in Oyo State.

Meanwhile, the total number of coronavirus cases in Nigeria has increased to 1273. NCDC on Sunday recorded 91 new cases of the novel coronavirus, bringing the country’s total infections to 1273, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

The NCDC, in a tweet via its official handle, said 43 of the new infections were recorded in Lagos.

“On the 26th of April 2020, 91 new confirmed cases and five new deaths were recorded in Nigeria

“Four new states (Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Kebbi and Taraba) have reported confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

“Till date, 1273 cases have been confirmed, 239 cases have been discharged and 40 deaths have been recorded in 32 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
