Adamawa records seven new coronavirus cases

Adamawa has announced seven fresh cases of coronavirus cases.

The seven cases bring the total toll in the state to 12.

Of the seven fresh cases, five are direct contacts of the first case in Mubi while one is from Lamurde, an Adamawa town and local government area on the Adamawa-Gombe border while the other is an escapee from Gombe State.

The Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, Malam Bashir Ahmad, who is also the state chairman of COVID-19 Containment Committee disclosed this on Monday.

Bashir said during a briefing in Yola the five cases from Mubi and one from Lamurde were from 40 sample results returned to the state out of the 63 samples sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He said the state awaits 23 test results from the NCDC.

The SSG expressed regret Mubi is the epicenter of the virus in Adamawa State, having recorded six cases, the same as the rest of the state put together.

Adamawa State has 21 local government areas but Mubi is a large town which is divided into two LGAs namely Mubi South and Mubi North.
