Kenyan journalist brutally murdered by unknown assailants on his way home from work

Unknown assailants have allegedly murdered a Kenyan radio journalist identified as Mohammed Hassan Marjan on Monday morning on his way home from work under unclear circumstances.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the veteran journalist working with Pamoja FM in Kibra was killed near Kibera Law Courts at dawn.

It was also learnt that the deceased hosted a special Ramadan show every night since the beginning of Ramadan period.

Reacting to the tragic incident, residents of Kibra accused the police of laxity particularly during the dusk to dawn curfew.

The incident irked members of the public who launched a manhunt for the killers.

One person who was allegedly linked to the murder was lynched. They claim that rowdy youth have been terrorizing the neighborhood.

According to Kibra sub-county deputy commissioner Gideon Ombogi, the police have taken charge over the matter and investigations have begun.

“Once the body was taken away to the mortuary a group of young men gathered and went out looking for a suspected killer. They then took him to the scene of crime and murdered him there and then.” Said Ombogi.

The two bodies have now been taken to the City Motuary awaiting an autopsy.

Marjan’s sister has taken to social media to question why an innocent person was robbed and killed.

“This Ramadhan just like in the past years, he would spend the whole night in the studios sharing qaswidas and khutbas from different sheikhs. The motive of his killing is unknown,” says Siyama Ismail.

“I am left speechless. An innocent husband, father, grand-father lost his life in the hands of free loaders! All I can say is Inna-lillahi wa-Inna Ilaihi Rajiun (To you we belong and to you we shall return), May Allah grant you Jannatul Firdaus#Mohammed- Hassan-Marjan. We your family, the Muslims and all Pamoja FM fans at large will miss you.” Adds Siyama.

Pamoja FM also took to Facebook to mourn the late reporter who worked for the station before his demise.
