WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the Minister of State for Environment, Mrs Sharon Ikeazor who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Nkem Okeke in October 2019 visited the erosion site where the buildings including a school and church collapsed in on Thursday May 14.

It was further learnt that the government officials had promised that work would be carried out on the site.

An eyewitness who shared a video from the scene of the incident on Facebook called on the government to come to their aid.

DAY 2

NKISI AROLI ONITSHA DISASTER REPORT

Just like we predicted in my last video two days ago, it rained heavily last night and houses came down!

At this rate, residents are like sitting ducks in a shooting range waiting for the next victim & we’re still pleading, calling on govt to come to our aid…

Remember, as long as you live in Onitsha, YOU ARE NOT SAFE AND IT IS ONLY A QUESTION OF TIME BEFORE THIS CALAMITY GETS TO YOU AS THE EPICENTER KEEPS EXPANDING WITH EACH NEW RAIN…
