Five Gombe lawmakers test positive for COVID-19

Anambra discharges index case of Coronavirus

As the nation continues its fight against Coronavirus, five members of the Gombe state House of Assembly have tested positive for COVID-19.

This was disclosed by the Chairman of the state task force on COVID-19, Prof. Idris Mohammed on Monday, June 8 while addressing journalists on the state’s fight against Coronavirus.

According to Mohammed, the lawmakers whose identities were not disclosed have been admitted at different isolation centers in the state.

The state currently has 217 confirmed cases of the viral disease.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that tragedy as a member of the Gombe state task force on COVID-19 identified as Shuaibu Danlami has reportedly died from Coronavirus complications.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the deceased, Danlami who was the director for Special Services and Politics at the office of the Secretary to the State Government died on Sunday, May 31 after a brief illness.

It was also learnt that samples taken from him for testing returned positive for Coronavirus from the NCDC lab in Abuja late Tuesday, June 2.
