Coachella 2020 cancelled due to coronavirus

The 2020 edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival at which Afrobeat star, Seun Kuti, was expected to perform, has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The cancellation order for the festival, which had earlier been postponed due to concerns over the pandemic, was issued on June Wednesday by the Public health officer of Riverside County, California, United States of America.

Other performances expected at the now-cancelled festival include rock band Rage Against the Machine, Frank Ocean and Travis Scott.

Coachella is one of the biggest in the world, bringing about half a million fans to an open-air site in Indio, east of Los Angeles, over two weekends.

In other news, Nigerian afrobeats and dance-hall music act, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy has been named the headline act in Fresh Island 2020 music festival to take place in Croatia.

The Grammy nominee secured the spot ahead of his Nigerian counterpart Wizkid, real name Ayo Balogun and American rapper.
