29 health workers test positive for Coronavirus in Plateau

Anambra discharges index case of Coronavirus

Plateau state government have confirmed 29 health workers who tested positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday, June 17.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nimkong Lar.

According to Lar, the state has recorded 198 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 114 patients discharged and five deaths.

Lar also revealed that a private hospital in the state was shut down for two weeks, following its exposure to two coronavirus patients who were managed for other health conditions.

17 staff of the hospital have been confirmed to have Coronavirus and taken to the state’s isolation centre for treatment while other staff members have been quarantined.

The commissioner said;

“COVID-19 Update, the NCDC says Plateau has 168 confirmed cases but results released now confirms we have 198 cases. 

We decontaminated the hospital yesterday and have shut it down for public safety.

“We have also taken the 17 staff to the isolation centers for treatment.”

Plateau state’s commissioner for information and Communication, Dan Manjang also warned residents of the state to adhere to all health guidelines instituted to curb the spread of Coronavirus as anyone found to be violating the COVID-19 guidelines will be arrested and prosecuted.
