Rumours of Ajimobi’s death engulf social media; Aide reacts

There have been unconfirmed reports on social media platforms, with claims that the immediate past governor of Oyo state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is dead.

Some online reports claim that Ajimobi who was recently appointed as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress by the National Working Committee of the party died due to Coronavirus complications.

Though it was unclear if it true or untrue as aides to the former governor maintained their taciturnity and remain mum on the rumoured news of his death.

Recall that there have been controversies surrounding his health status with unconfirmed sources saying the former lawmaker his confronting with Covid-19 and was reported to be in a critical condition.

Meanwhile kemi Olunloyo who is very close to Ajimobi’s family while reacting to his rumoured death admitted that he is sick adding that she confirmed and spoke to the family around 9:15pm and that the former governor is alive and recovering.

But contrary to kemi’s claim, a renowned Journalist, Fisayo Soyombo disclosed on his Twitter handle that “a source who has never failed him in six years of knowing him has just confirmed to him the death of Ajimobi in Lagos today.

But, while reacting Ajimobi’s media aide, Bolaji Tunji said his principal is still very much alive as it is all rumours.

According to him “Kindly disregard all the rumours, just rumours. In all, we remain prayerful.” Ajimobi was sick after testing positive for coronavirus. He was previously in a coma but was reported to have left coma in the past few days.”

In a post on his social media handles, he urged Nigerians to pray for the recovery of the APC chieftain who is battling with COVID-19.
