Update: Body of 17-year-old girl swept away by Lagos flood has been found

After a thorough search by Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the body of the  17-year-old girl, simply identified as Ayisat, who was swept away by strong flood at Alapafuja axis of the Surulere Low-Cost Housing Estate on Monday June 22, was found.

Recall that earlier on, Within Nigeria reported about the research for a teenager identified as Ayisat, 17, who drowned in a flood in Lagos. The incident happened in Surulere area of Lagos after heavy rainfall on Monday.

On Monday, Lagos witnessed a heavy downpour causing most areas in the state to become flooded. The canal along Alapafuja close linking Bank Olemoh was submerged as a result of flooding.

According to the spokesperson of LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor, a search and rescue operation for the teenager was put in motion

After an intense search, men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, found the dead body of the girl at Onilegogo canal, Surulere on Tuesday afternoon June 23. The body was handed over to her community members who immediately buried her.
