Bauchi Governor dissolves council chairmen ahead of poll

The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has dissolved the caretaker chairmen across the 20 local government areas to provide a level-playing ground for all candidates in the forthcoming council poll.

This was contained in a statement released by Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Sabiu and made available to newsmen.

Mohammed said the Governor’s move is in compliance with guidelines by the State Independent Electoral Commission for the provision of 30-day notice by all candidates, who wish to participate in the election.

The statement reads:

“Following the release of timetable for forthcoming local government council’s elections in the state and in compliance with guidelines issued by the state Independent Electoral Commission for the provision of 30 days’ notice by all candidates, which wish to participate in the election” the governor has approved the dissolution of all the chairmen with immediate effect.”

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed has appointed Balaraba Ibrahim as his Special Assistant on Women Affairs (Unmarried).

This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Sabi’u Baba in a letter dated August 4, 2020 and made available to newsmen.
