Many escape death as three-storey building collapses in Umuahia

Tragedy averted on Friday as atleast 12 people were rescued from a collapsed building which was under construction at Kurna Rijiyar Lemon in Dala Local Government Area in Kano State.

This was disclosed in a statement released by Malam Saidu Mohammed, the Kano State Fire Service Spokesman, Malam Saidu Mohammed.

Mohammed said that the building collapsed at about 13:37p.m., NAN reports.

Mohammed said that the victims sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Waziri Gidado Hospital, Kano.

“The victims,12 of them were trapped under the building after it collapsed.

“They have been rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment because they sustained serious injuries.

“However, the cause of the incident is still under investigation,” Mohammed said.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that following the collapse of building in Kano state, no fewer than four members of a family have lost their lives and three others were rescued including a one-year-old boy.

Reacting to the tragic incident, the Kano State Fire Service confirmed that four members of a family died in a collapsed building at Saberi area in Gwale Local Government Area, on Monday, April 13.
