Nigeria records 296 new COVID-19 cases, death toll hits 1011

Nigeria records 304 new COVID-19 cases, total now 44,433

As Nigeria continues its fight against COVID-19, 296 new cases of the deadly virus and one death have been recorded.

This was disclosed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control via its official Twitter handle on Thursday night, 27th of August 2020.

The centre, who revealed that 53317 cases of the viral infection have been confirmed also disclosed that 40726 cases have been discharged and 1011 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The breakdown of the new COVID-19 cases in 17 states are listed below:

Plateau (85), Enugu (46), Oyo (31), Lagos (21), Rivers (20), FCT (15), Kaduna (13), Bauchi (12), Delta (11), Ekiti (11), Akwa Ibom (7), Ebonyi (6), Kwara (5), Ogun (4), Osun (4), Gombe (3), Niger (2).

The NCDC further revealed that a multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 3, continues to coordinate the national response activities.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA reported that the federal government has approved the injection of N10 billion into the transportation sector to cushion the effect of the coronavirus pandemic, Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemisola Saraki has said.
