Court grants man 40, N200,000 bail over alleged N20,000 fraud in Abuja

US court docks 11 Nigerians over fraud

An applicant identified as Ifeanyi Akwulor has been granted a bail in the sum of N200000 by a Grade I Area Court, Nyanya in Abuja on Friday for allegedly defrauding a fish seller of N20, 000.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the 40-year-old suspect, Akwulor who is a resident in Aungwan Cement, Dape II, lifecamp, Abuja was charged by the police on a count of cheating.

Delivering its judgement, Abdullahi Ogedengbe ordered Akwulor to produce one surety, who must be a civil servant on Grade Level 8 and adjourned the case until Sept. 17 for hearing.

Recall that the Prosecution Counsel, M.M Augustine told the court that the defendant deceived Godfirst Ishaya, into giving N20, 000 with a promise to pay on later date.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 322 of the Penal Code.

The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
