Ignatius Ajuru University suspends lecturer for sexual harassment

A Senior Lecturer, Dr. Rowland Uchechukwu Igwe of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rivers State, has been suspended.

The Management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) said it placed Dr. Rowland Uchechukwu Igwe of the Department of Sociology on an Indefinite suspension for alleged sexual assault.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele stated that, “Igwe’s suspension is hinged on an allegation of serial intimidation, sexual harassment and undue canal knowledge of a female undergraduate which resulted in her being impregnated and suffering health complications.”

The matter has been referred to the Council-Senate Committee on Staff Disciplinary Matters of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education for further investigation.

WITHINNIGERIA had also reported how the authorities of the Polytechnic of Ibadan sacked Mr. Ajadi Kelani Ojo Omotosho, a Chief lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning in the institution.

The lecturer’s appointment was also terminated following his involvement in an act of misconduct, sexual immorality which resulted in embarrassing and maligning the image of the Polytechnic, Ibadan his employer.
