Social distancing violated as Senator Marafa gives out daughter, 13 orphans for marriage in Kaduna

Despite increase in COVID-19 positive cases, a Nigerian senator, Kabiru Marafa on Saturday gave out his daughter, Architect Aisha and 13 orphans for marriage amidst crowd in Kaduna.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that the 13 orphans given out for marriage were those whose parents were killed across Zamfara State due to bandits activities.

It was also learnt that the wedding fatiha took place at Almannar Juma’at Mosque, Unguwar Rimi GRA and was contracted by the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Dr Tukur Adam Almannar.

While delivering his lecture at the wedding ceremony, the Chief Imam, Adam called on other serving and former leaders to emulate Senator Marafa by also taking care of orphans in their states.

“The groom to the Senator’s daughter, Al’amin ilyasu Abdullahi, paid 100,000 naira as bride price of Architect Aisha Kabiru Marafa based on the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad.

‎”The remaining 13 brides were orphans whose the Senator sponsored their wedding by given them out for marriage alongside his daughter.

“May Allah reward him for this gesture,” he said.

Dr Tukur said the senator did all what a father will do his daughter as well as the 13 orphans which was commendable.

He said Prophet Muhammad always asked Muslims to take care of orphans among them.

Speaking with newsmen after the wedding, Senator Kabiru Marafa said there were thousands of orphans in Zamfara which informed his gesture because the girls were matured and ready for marriage but their family couldn’t buy even a broom for them.

He explained that he was humble by the massive crowd that attended the wedding ‎even though he had wanted the wedding to be low key because of security challenges in Zamfara state.

Among the dignitaries who attended the wedding were; Zamfara State Govornor, Bello Matawalle; a former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former Zamfara State Governor, Mahmuda Shinkafi; a former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi alongside other serving and former Senators from across the country.
