Sexual Assault: Governor Tambuwal’s aide’s son granted bail

Aminu Hayatu-Tafida, a son of a political appointee in Sokoto State Government who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl and allegedly circulated the video on social media has been charged and granted bail by a Chief Magistrate Court in Sokoto on Monday.

WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that Hayatu-Tafida who committed the crime with two other arraigned accomplices, Umar Abubakar, Mas’ud Abubakar-Gidado and Aliyu Shehu Kangiwa, was however remanded until perfection of bail.

The prosecuting officer, ASP Samuel Sule, while presenting the case told the court that all offenses charged against them contravened the penal code law and laws of Sokoto state.

He said the victims mother reported that Hayatu-Tafida had sometimes in 2017, lured the 16-year-old girl to a hotel, had unlawful carnal knowledge of her and recorded her nudity in an 18 seconds video clip.

He further revealed that the unfortunate incident resulted to the termination of the girl’s wedding, scheduled to take place in October, this year.

Delivering judgement, Chief Magistrate, Shuaibu Ahmad, ordered that Hayatu-Tafida be remanded in Sokoto Correctional Center to enable police complete investigation.

Ahmad adjourned the case to Oct. 19, for hearing and granted the three accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000 each adding that their offenses were bailable.
