‘Silent’ war between Makinde, Fayose deepens as aides trade words

PDP slams Fayose for warning Oyo Gov Makinde to abstain from Ekiti

The ‘silent’ war between Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has taken a new dimension as aides of two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftains continue to engage in war of words.

The ‘silent’ war deepened after aide of the Oyo State Governor, Dare Adeleke reacted to yesterday’s  proceedings of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) case against Fayose.

Makinde said on social media that no matter what the former governor does on the case, he will be sent to jail.

The former governor of Ekiti State, Fayose was arraigned on an 11-count charge by the EFCC on October 22, 2018 alongside a company identified as Spotless Investment Ltd.

Fayose pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.

Recall that the former Ekiti State Governor, Fayose has been at loggerheads with Governor Makinde over the latter’s role in Ekiti PDP crisis as well as the leadership of the party in the Southwest.

With Fayose are Ladi Adebutu, Sen. Ademola Adeleke and the PDP Chairman in Lagos State, Deji Doherty, over the control of the PDP in the Southwest.

Also allying with them are chairmen of the party in Ekiti, Osun, Ogun and Lagos states, leaving Governor Makinde with Oyo and Ondo states.

Makinde’s aide wrote on his social media account in a reaction to Fayose’s spokesman Lere Olayinka’s comment on the proceedings that ”You and your paymaster are bound for jail. No matter how you twisted (sic) the proceedings, he shall be jailed.”

Replying his comment, Fayose’s media aide, Olayinka described Adeleke as a sycophant who is seeking to desperately sustain the crumbs he is getting from Governor Makinde.

Olayinka further stated that it was funny that Governor Makinde too appeared to be in his support.

Olayinka added that “If the governor is not the one who directed Adeleke to be abusing Fayose, he would have called him to order.

“However, we won’t go gutter with them because we are not in the business of wrestling with pigs.”
