Labour unions organise special prayer over insecurity in Niger state

NLC, others say no to resumption of schools

A special prayer session seeking divine intervention in the areas of security and welfare has been called by labour unions in Niger state.

This was contained in a statement co-signed by the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yakubu Garba and Tanimu Yunusa, his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart.

The special prayer session is scheduled to hold on Thursday at Unguwan Daji Eid prayer ground and Labour House, IBB Road, Minna, for Muslims and Christians, respectively.

The unions said the prayer will focus on divine intervention in the areas of insecurity and welfare of civil servants in Niger state.

“All civil servants in Niger State are hereby directed to converge at Unguwan Daji Eid prayer ground for a special prayer to seek divine intervention for Niger State in the area of 1) Insecurity 2) Welfare of Civil Servants,” the letter reads.

“Our Christian Faithful are to observe the prayer at Labour House, IBB Road, Minna.

“The Special Prayer is scheduled to hold by 7:30am on Thursday, 3rd December, 2020 for both the Christians and Muslim faithful. Friends of Labour are equally requested to join. Aluta Continua!”.

There have been several attacks by bandits in Niger state in recent times.

On September 2, nore than 10 persons were killed by bandits in Dukku community in Rijau local government area of Niger state.

A similar incident occurred on October 12, as four persons were confirmed dead in Rafi local government area, following an attack by armed bandits.
