Kaduna Police Arrest 29 Suspected Kidnappers, 53 Others

Kaduna State Police commission, Umar Muri, has revealed the number of criminals arrested by the command between October 31, and December 31, 2020.

According to CP Muri, the command arrested 29 suspected kidnappers and 53 others for various crimes within the state.

Muri made this known at a press briefing on Thursday in Kaduna on the successes recorded by the command during the last quarter of the year.

He attributed the successes to the unwavering determination of the police officers.

The Commissioner explained that, while 29 were arrested for kidnappings, the 53 others were arrested for terrorism, armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape, shop breaking and stealing.

“Investigation into various allegations is ongoing, while some of the suspects have voluntarily confessed to their crimes and will be charged to court for prosecution,” Muri said.

He disclosed that the Command has been relentless in sustaining serious manhunt of gunmen and other perpetrators of crimes in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

Muri explained that on December 5, the Command in collaboration with the Force Headwaters and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) successfully carried out a joint operation on Kofa gunmen’s camp in Chikun Local Government Area within the axis of Gadani and Gwagwada villages.

He added a large number of armed men were neutralised and dislodged while their camps were also demolished.

Muri urged neighbouring communities and villages to look out for some of these dislodged fleeing terrorists and quickly report to security agencies for a quick appropriate action.

The Commissioner revealed that raiding of criminal hideouts across the state is heightened to deny the criminals safe haven for their nefarious activities.

He said three AK47 rifles, one Barretta pistol with breach NO. 98-0-006215, two locally made revolver rifles and one locally made single barrel gun were recovered.
