REPORT: Pence congratulates Kamala Harris but Trump still adamant on Biden

The outgoing vice-president of the United States, Mike Pence has reportedly reached out to Kamala Harris, US vice president-elect to offer congratulations.

Associated Press reported that two people familiar with the conversation confirmed that Pence phoned Kamala on Thursday.

Recall that US president-elect, Harris and Joe Biden emerged victorious in the 2020 US election.

The call is reported to be the first contact between the outgoing official and his soon-to-be successor.

One of the people familiar with the conversation between the duo reportedly described it as a “good call”.

This comes five days to the inauguration of the elected officials scheduled for January 20.

This is coming weeks after protesters laid siege to the US congress during the ratification of the November 3 presidential election.

Unlike Pence, Trump is yet to congratulate the incoming president as he has frequently questioned the legitimacy of Biden’s victory.

Officials familiar with Pence’s plans had confirmed that the outgoing vice-president would attend the January 20 inauguration – an event Trump has vowed to stay away from.
