Anambra: Tears, anguish as woman recounts how hubby went missing over 8 months ago

For Mrs. Ogochukwu Okoye of Abatete, Idemili North local government area of Anambra, life is indeed not fair to her. What she usually watched in Nollywood movies came to reality in her life.

Since the sudden disappearance of her husband, Pius Okoye on June 28, 2022 her life and that of her seven had fallen apart like a pack of cards. Though they have been living in Onitsha where her husband, a businessman has become well known, their current situation reeks deprivation, lost and huge confusion.

Narrating the ugly incident to WITHIN NIGERIA reporter in an exclusive interview, Mrs Okoye stressed it still seemed to her like a dream.

“That fateful day, he came back from shop in the evening by around 7pm and we chatted and cracked jokes as usual. However,  later by some minutes past 7pm someone called him on phone to meet him somewhere else and he left. He told me he is coming and till today his phone is switched off and he is no where to be found.

“We have not heard anything from anybody indication that he might have been kidnapped.”

Asked if she has reported to the police, Mrs explained that ” I went to the police and after collecting N15,000 from me, they asked me to write statement which I did. They promised to find him but till this moment, I have not seen my husband. I have been calling the police but they are no more giving good answer.”

Asked what the reaction of her inlaws is like since the ugly incident occurred, Mrs Okoye stated that “even those I expect to do something didn’t do anything. The only person that react is my  husband’s elder sister.

They collected money from me told me write state later said will searching for him but I hv been calling the police man since then he is not giving me good answer

On whether there was marriage issue between her and husband that could possibly warrant his sudden disappearance without any traces, she replied that ” my husband is my best friend. We don’t harbour any ill feeling against each other. We play like little children. In fact we love each other so dearly. So, there is absolutely nothing that could warrant such occurrence, if at all that is what it is.”

On whether he has had any issue with any of his business colleagues that can lead to such incident, she said that her husband never told her of such situation, stressing that as an easygoing person, she wouldn’t suspect such scenario.

When asked how the family has been coping since the sudden disappearance of her husband, Mrs. Okoye stated it has not been. She further explained that they have been living by the special grace of God.
