VIDEO: Stage Collapses At Kano Swearing-in Ceremony

On Monday, the stage where a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Abba Kabir was to be inaugurated as Kano State Governor collapsed.

According to report, the incident happened in the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano with the Governor, his deputy, and the acting Chief Judge all present at the platform.

The podium’s collapse was caused by some young people who were seen climbing the podium’s roof.

Tinubu takes oath of office, becomes fifth democratic Nigeria’s President

On Monday, the President-elect, Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, the vice president-elect officially assumed their positions as president and vice president of Nigeria, respectively.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kayode Ariwoola.

The Independent National Electoral Commission proclaimed Tinubu, a former senator and governor of Lagos State, the victor of the presidential election held in February 2023.

Terrorists kill pastor, 49 Church members in Plateau

On Sunday, fifty members of Baptist church including a pastor were killed in Plateau state by suspected Fulani militia wreaking havoc.

This was made known via an interview in Jos, the state capital by the president of the Baptist Conference, Keoleh Saleh.

According to him, the deceased are victims of a recent attacks in the state’s Mangu and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Saleh disclosed that over 500 of its members were also displaced.

Nasarawa bomb explosion kills two

On Monday, two persons were killed by a suspected bomb explosion in Keffi metropolis, the headquarters of Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Reports revealed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, opposite General Hospital, along Nasarawa Road, Keffi.

According to findings, as early as 6am on Sunday, residents of Keffi town trooped out in their numbers to the scene of the two-bedroom residential apartment that was affected by the explosion.

NNPC announces new fuel price across states, least N488 per litre

On Wednesday, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited set the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also referred to as fuel or Petrol, at between N488 and N555 per litre at its highest point.

This is coming hours after President Bola Tinubu announced an end to removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria.

According to a decision made by the management at the meeting, the NNPC PMS pump price table for Mega/Standard/Leased Stations will be revised upward. This decision directs all marketers to alter retail prices for the petroleum product across states.

Owner of AIT, Raymond Dokpesi is dead

On Monday, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), owner of first private radio in Nigeria and founder of DAAR Communications Ltd, Raymond Dokpesi passed away.

At age 71, the media tycoon passed away in an Abuja hospital.

A family member verified to The Whistler that Dokpesi, a supporter of former vice president Atiku Abubakar, had passed away.

According to the family source, Dokpesi has been taking care of his health ever since having a stroke immediately after the last Ramadan fast.

DSS storms Lagos EFCC office, blocks officials from accessing building

On Tuesday, Officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission were unable to enter their office in Ikoyi, Lagos, as a result of Department of State Security agents storming the location.

According to reliable sources, the DSS and the EFCC have been at odds about ownership of the premises.

According to reports, DSS agents stormed the office on Tuesday at around 7:00 p.m. and refused to leave despite negotiations between agents from both agencies. A reliable source confirmed the event over the phone.

An official of the EFCC who spoke under anonymity revealed that “There’s been a running battle between us and the DSS over who owns the office because the office was used by them before the EFCC came on board and it was handed over to us.

Court sentences Ramon Adedoyin to death by hanging

On Tuesday, Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo sentenced owner of the Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin to death by hanging.

According to Justice Ojo, Adedoyin, the owner of the Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife where Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student at OAU, was allegedly killed, was found guilty of murder earlier.

Police declares Oyo transport leader, Auxiliary wanted

On Friday, Chairman of the defunct Parks Management System, Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxillary, was proclaimed wanted by the Oyo State Police Command.

Recall that Tuesday saw a raid on one of Auxillary’s residences in Ibadan. 78 purported hoodlums were detained during the operation, along with guns and ammunition that were reportedly his.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, who addressed newsmen at the command’s headquarters, Eleyele in Ibadan, said, “The general public particularly good citizens of the state are hereby notified that LAMIDI MUKAILA AKA AUXILIARY ‘M’ whose Photograph appears above is wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State command in connection with cases of; attempted murder, causing grievous harm, arms dealing, murder, armed robbery within the state and kidnapping at Oke-ogun and Ibarapa axis of the State.

“Lamidi Mukaila is an indigene of the state. He was born on January 9, 1962 (61yrs) and dark in complexion.”

Tinubu appoints Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, Akume, SGF

On Friday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Friday in Abuja announced the appointment of outgoing Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as Chief of Staff (CoS), and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff to the President.

In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate-past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The appointments were contained in a statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information at the Presidency on Friday.
