Meet “Anthony Placid”: New Force Public Relations Officer

DCP Anthony Okon Placid has been appointed as the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) to replace ACP Benjamin Hundeyin by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu. 


This happened amid a massive shake-up within the Nigeria Police Force.

Recall that Benjamin Hundeyin was appointed by outgone IGP, Kayode Egbetokun on September 25, 2025 as the force public relations officer.

Disu, via a statement signed and released on Sunday by the outgoing FPRO, ACP Hundeyin, approved the appointment of DCP Anthony Okon Placid, as the force spokesperson.

Here are nine (9) things you probably did not know about Anthony Okon Placid, New Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO):

He was born on December 2, 1970 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

He hails from from Mbiokporo Nsit, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

He attended the University of Uyo where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and Regional Planning.

He attended the University of Jos where he obtained a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy.

He attended the National Open University of Nigeria where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws.

He joined the police force in 1996.

He has served in various strategic capacities, including Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, Chief of Training at the African Union Mission in Sudan, and Head of Training and Development at the United Nations Mission in Darfur.

He’s a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Commonwealth Human Rights Trainer, and International Committee of the Red Cross Trainer on International Humanitarian Law.

He is married with children and enjoys sports, music, and social engagement.
