Bandits abducted forty, killed three in Faskari, Katsina
On this day, April 20 in 2020, gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Sabon Layin Galadima village in Faskari local government area of Katsina state, abducted more than forty, killed three persons leaving two others with degrees of injuries.
This tragic incident came up barely 24 hours after bandits killed 47 others in Dutsinma, Danmusa and Safana villages of the state.
According to locals in Sabo Layin Galadima, the bandits in large numbers on motorcycles arrived the village at about 5:00pm on Sunday and carried out the operations for over an hour.
“They went away with many animals and burnt down some houses,” one of the locals said.
Another added that “Those killed include a medical health worker at Unguwar Doka village, Sanusi Bello who came to the town at that moment and was shot.
The remaining two others are Safiyanu Abdullahi and Hassan Sani. “Those injured and receiving treatment are Ibrahim Hassan and Adamu Ibrahim.”
The source, who asked not to be named, further revealed that at about 11:00am on Monday, a man was shot at Unguwar Doka while many have been abducted while trying to get firewood from the forest.
“These abducted people numbering over 40 are from Dandume, Faskari, Funtua and Maigora,” he added.
4 Soldiers, 30 Bandits Killed In Zamfara Ambush
On this day, April 20 in 2020, gunmen suspected to be bandits killed four soldiers in an ambush in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to a source, the soldiers were conveying food supplies to their colleagues carrying out operation codenamed ‘Hadarin Daji’ in the forest.
It was gathered that the soldiers were ambushed by the armed bandits in a forest near Garin-Kada and Birane villages in Zurmi Local Government Area.
“Taking advantage of their knowledge of the rough terrain inside the forest, they lurked around until the troops reached a certain spot before they opened fire on the vehicles conveying them and four soldiers died on the spot. However, the troops responded and killed dozens of the gunmen and recovered about 8 AK47 rifles.
“The Force Commander of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), who is also the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Sokoto, Brig. Gen. Aminu Bande has visited the scene, perhaps to assess the situation,” he added.
