WITHIN NIGERIA highlights one event that occured on April 27 in the history of this country, Nigeria in an effort to create awareness for education and enlightenment purpose.
On this day, April 27 in 2012, three reporters died and four others badly injured in a gruesome auto accident involving the convoy of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, then Edo State Governor.
According to reports, a tipper truck rammed into the middle of the convoy while the governor was returning from a political rally in Afuze.
The accident occurred close to Auchi, the governor’s hometown. Eyewitnesses describe a bloody tragedy which also left four journalists critically injured.
The three dead reporters include a cameraman from the African Independent Television (AIT) and a cameraman from Igbinedion’s television station -ITV-in Benin. The identity of the third reporter had not been disclosed to reporters.
A spokesperson to the governor said the governor escaped by whiskers because he personally drove himself in a BMW salon car as a security measure.
