21-yr-old Belgium-based Nigerian footballer dies of food poisoning during holiday in Nigeria

Nigerian football whizkid, Victor Akaniyene Udoh, has passed away at just 21 years old under questionable circumstances.

His tragic death has sent shockwaves across the Nigerian football community and tossed lovers of the sport into grief and sorrow.

According to reports by BSNSports.com.ng, he died of food poisoning after a rendezvous with his friend in the Federal Capital Territory.

The former Royal Antwerp forward reportedly fell critically sick and was rushed to the hospital, where he drew his last breath.

According to reports, the young footballer had gone out with friends the night before his death and was later found unconscious and motionless the following morning.

While reports point to food or drink p@isoning, authorities are yet to officially confirm the exact cause of death.

Udoh, born on October 18, 2004, in Akwa Ibom State, rose through the ranks after moving from Nigeria to Belgium in 2023. He impressed in Royal Antwerp’s youth setup with his performances and goals, eventually earning a first-team debut.

The promising striker also had spells with Southampton FC in England and the Czech side SK Dynamo České Budějovice.
