On September 29, 2013, at least 40 students of the College of Agriculture, Gujba in Yobe State were killed by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect.
WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the gunmen entered the male dormitory at about 1 a.m. and opened fire on students while they slept.
It was also gathered that the corpses were deposited at the General Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Damaturu, while 16 injured were transported to Damaturu Specialist Hospital.
According to survivors, the attackers came in two double-cabin pickup vehicles, some wearing Nigerian military uniforms.
“Nearly all those killed were Muslims, as is the majority of the student body”, a survivor said.
Yobe State Police Commissioner, Sanusi Rufai, confirmed the attack.
The attack followed a July 6 attack at Mamudo Government Secondary School that killed 29 students and a teacher.
The United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, strongly condemned the murder of more than 40 students.
