VeryDarkMan announces his demise, stages funeral for the second time

Verydarkman's second death and funeral stunt

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has sparked reactions online after a fresh death announcement surfaced on his social media pages on Monday, October 5.

A statement posted by the accounts associated with VeryDarkMan announced the purported death of the activist.

The statement reads:

“OFFICIAL STATEMENT

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkBlackMan.

“Martins went to sleep last night and, tragically, did not wake up this morning. His sudden passing has left his family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones devastated.

“We ask everyone to respect the privacy of his family during this difficult time.

“May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

However, the announcement was accompanied by a video showing VeryDarkMan and members of his team conducting a burial ceremony.

In the footage, the activist was seen inside a coffin as members of his team appeared to carry out the burial proceedings. He was later shown emerging from the coffin, appearing to wake up from the staged burial.

The video indicates that the death announcement was part of a staged burial rather than a genuine report of VeryDarkMan’s death.

The latest stunt comes shortly after the activist’s heated exchange with Christian clerics, particularly Apostle Arome Osayi.

The disagreement began after VDM criticised comments made by Arome on Nigeria’s spiritual revival and development. The dispute escalated on October 4 when VDM challenged pastors who believed he was acting against God to pray for his death before Monday.

The timing of Monday’s burial video has consequently attracted attention, coming just a day after the challenge.

The latest episode also brings back memories of a similar stunt involving VeryDarkMan earlier in 2026.

In February, the activist was seen lying inside a coffin during an online dispute with King Mitchy. The incident generated widespread reactions before it was understood to be a staged death and burial scene.

The October 5 episode appears to follow a similar pattern, with VDM once again using a mock burial and his own purported death announcement to draw attention to a public controversy.

The latest development has since generated reactions among social media users, particularly because of its timing and connection to his recent confrontation with pastors.
