The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has urged Yoruba people to be proud of their culture, no matter where they live.
Oba Ogunwusi made the appeal at the coronation anniversary of Oore of Otun-Ekiti, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo, which was held in Otun-Ekiti.
He stated that the Yoruba people should not allow civilisation and the western way of life to erode the rich culture passed down from their forefathers.
He congratulated the Oore of Otun on his first coronation anniversary and prayed that his reign would bring great prosperity to the people of Otun and Moba land.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Council of Obas in Ekiti State and the Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Adejuwon, expressed his joy with Oore of Otun and wished him many more anniversaries on the throne.
Earlier in his speech, Oba Adeagbo urged the town’s indigenes to always work for its growth and development.
He assured the people that his reign would bring various developments in infrastructure, scholarship, and advancement.
Among the side attractions at the coronation anniversary were cultural dances, the conferment of Chieftaincy titles, and the presentation of awards of honor to some dignitaries.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Bisi Egbeyemi, Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, friends of Oore of Otun Ekiti, traditional rulers, and prominent sons and daughters of the town.
