Some speakers at a leadership conference on Saturday urged youths to come together as one united front to build the Nigeria of their dreams.
The Annual Youth Leadership Conference was organised by Superior Performance Global Network in Lagos, with the theme “Finding Your Voice’.
One of the speakers, Mr Adeniyi Okunnu, a broadcast journalist, urged Nigerian youths to stay together and begin to proffer solutions to identified problems of the country.
According to Okunnu, elections are coming and many people do not know the importance of participating in the electoral process by engaging in the process of having their Permanent Voters Card (PVC).
“If you begin to understand that your voice is important, then you will understand and look at certain things that will propel you to make use of your voice the way it should be.
“If people say Nigeria is bad, what are the areas that are bad? Are you thinking solution or you are just complaining?
“Are you finding paths for turn around or you are thinking retrogression? If there is misunderstanding, we stay together and resolve it and fight as one to bring solutions.
“You can not hate Nigeria and want the country to benefit you, you can not hate governance and want it to favour you.
“You have to develop positive energy and interest for it to favour you.
“This election period, you must register and have your PVC as people finding their voice to bring solutions,” he said.
Mr Olusegun Odufuwa, founder, Superior Performance Global Network and convener conference urged youths to be determined to make more impact in the country.
Odufuwa enjoined Nigerian youths to believe in themselves and come together in unity to develop Nigeria despite the adversities and challenges bedeviling the country.
“It has always been my passion to add value to, and create impact in my world as a young person.
“I see my colleagues out there as people with lack of hope because of the adversities and the challenges in the county.
“These challenges make them to begin to make wrong choices, so I decided to bring them together in my little world to inspire and ignite their passion.
“I believe in the country called Nigeria and I know that young people are major building blocks of a good society.
“If we all do the right thing, I know that Nigeria will be better; for you to find your voice you need to believe in yourself,” he said.
He advised the youths to change the idea of leaving the country to seek greener pastures abroad, urging them to join hands to build the nation.
Micheal Olajunwon, one of the participants, said that the event had made them to know and believe that there was hope in the country.
He appealed to leaders in the country to work with the citizens to give a better Nigeria.
“Youths are the largest; I am encouraging us to use the power to build the nation we all desire,” he said.
Another participant, Ms Omobolaji Adesanya, said there had to be a re-orientation and shift in the mindset of the youths.
He said that they had the power to make the nation better and should for work for peace and development of Nigeria.
