Nasarawa State reiterates commitment to youth-friendly programmes

Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe has stated that the government will continue to come up with programmes that will benefit the youths in all relevant sectors.

He said in Akwanga on Wednesday that Gov Abdullahi Sule led administration could not afford to neglect or toy with the future of youths in the state.

Akabe made the assertion while declaring open a leadership retreat and inauguration of local government and development area officials of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

He said “government will always provide a platform for youths to explore their potential.

“That is why it is encouraging them to be resourceful for their general wellbeing and overall development of the state.

He appreciated the youth for their support to the present administration, saying as a youth- friendly government, every necessary thing would be taken to improve their lots.

The deputy governor urged officials of the youth council in the state to be exemplary in leadership.

He noted that their input is needed to entrench the much desired socio-economic transformation of the state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Vice Chancellor, ANAN University Kwall, Plateau, Prof. Musa Fodio, said “to build the youths is to build the nation”.

Speaking on the essence of the leadership retreat, the state Chairman of NYCN, Mr Ja’afar Loko, noted that apart from orienting the newly elected local chapter officials, it was with a view to chatting a new course for the development of youths in the state.

Loko explained that the training programme would expose participants to the rudiments of the council’s activities and business of governance.

On his part, the Chairman, Akwanga Local Government Area, Mr Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, commended the youth in the state for their support to the government.
