Actress Rachael Oniga buried in Lagos (PHOTOS)

Veteran actress Rachael Oniga has been laid to rest at a private ceremony conducted by Omega Funeral Homes in Lagos.

Oniga, 64, died in a Lagos hospital on Friday, July 30.

She was buried around 1pm in a private ceremony attended by family members, some Nollywood stars and other well-wishers.

At the Church service at the Catholic Church of Resurrection in Lagos, the officiating priest, Very Revd Raphael Adebayo prayed for the Oniga family.

In their separate tributes, Oniga’s son, Olatunji, described his mother as a loving, caring and fantastic mum who always had time for anyone and everyone.

The deceased sister, Toyin Odusote recalled sweet memories with the deceased especially how she always gave advice when in problems.

She described her as the “best sister one would wish for”.

Mrs. Hope Diaso, Oniga’s sister, said: “She was the foundation holding this family together; she was such an amazing soul who valued unity”.

The first child, Olamiji Oniga, said: ” I will forever salute you mother because you have been all I ever needed in my life. God gave me the best mom in the world”.

Oniga started her acting career in 1993 shortly after her divorce.

She worked briefly at Ascoline Nigeria Limited, a Dutch Consultant company before her first movie titled: “Onome” and her debut Yoruba movie “Owo Blow.”

The late actress featured in notable films such as “Sango”, a movie scripted by Wale Ogunyemi, produced and directed by Obafemi Lasode and Wale Adenuga’s television series, Super Story.
